The Stamford Independent Party Committee is heeding our residents’ call for an alternative to the two-party system that controls our city. Our residents deserve competent, intelligent, honest and forward-thinking leadership to manage our city.

The Independent Party in Stamford is a non-partisan organization built around three goals:

• To defend our residents against a tax system that increasingly burdens residents
• To strengthen and revitalize our education system
• To insist on transparency and good governance in the City's government.

Our party’s endorsed candidates can be:

Independents, Republicans, Democrats, Unaffiliateds, or “write-in” candidates

“Unaffiliated” means the candidate does not belong to any party. “Write-in” candidates can be from any party or unaffiliated.

Our Pledge

Government must be ACCOUNTABLE to the people. This means it must create a responsible, strategic long-range plan that provides a vision for our city, and then it must execute this plan in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.

Government must value the diversity of its citizens and recognize that spirited public discourse and independent thought create the CHECKS & BALANCES necessary to ensure that the best decisions are made.

Government must be TRANSPARENT to citizens, communicating honestly, openly and frequently. This will insure that the public will be fully informed of municipal proposals and activities, be able to determine precisely how their tax dollars are being spent and be able to analyze the future financial impact of government actions being considered.
